The Bay Area Ocean Cluster (BAOC) fosters connection and cooperation in order to grow the Bay Area's Blue Economy. We define “Blue Economy” just as the United Nations does:

“An economic approach that promotes economic growth, social inclusion, and improved livelihoods while ensuring the environmental sustainability of oceans and coastal areas.”
We are part of a growing consortium of ocean clusters serving shoreline cities all across the United States.
An ocean cluster is based on a powerful premise: that the public sector, the private sector, and academia can realize ambitious goals when working together, that they need to be connected to facilitate collaboration.
Events bringing together our community are part of our work, deepening awareness and understanding of vital, topical issues.
The BlueTech Workforce Program (in its Pilot Year) places students in skill-building work environments, preparing them for challenging, well-paid careers.

A Blue Economy Needs Assessment — in progress — is our next step in providing data, facilitating funding and progress with regional stakeholders/ This is a partnership with the Bay Area Council Economic Institute.
